daydreamer

I remember
how blissful it was.
How my imagination held my hand.
How weightless the world felt.
How beautiful nature seemed.
That child feels like a stranger now.
In the name of growing up,
something inside me stopped looking upward.
But now,
I look up into the trees.
I find my mind wandering.
Leaves sway above me.
Warm light slips through them,
scattering little sparkles across the sky.
I never noticed there were stars in broad daylight.
So, what was lost can be found.
I am a daydreamer again.
